An IDF soldier was killed in combat in southern Lebanon on Sunday, the IDF announced on Monday. An officer was seriously wounded in the same incident.

The soldier was identified as Sgt. Liran Ben-Tzion, H’yd, 19, from Holon. He served in the 9th Battalion of the 401st Armored Brigade.

He is the sixth soldier to be killed in Lebanon in the past month. Over 30 soldiers have been wounded, including five soldiers wounded on Sunday.

The IDF said that according to an investigation into the incident, Hezbollah fired an anti-tank missile which hit an IDF tank, killing Ben-Tzion and seriously wounding the officer.

Following the strike, Hezbollah fired two more anti-tank missiles at the soldiers, but b’Chasdei Hashem, no one was injured.
