A four-month-old baby was rushed to the hospital in critical condition on Tuesday after being left for an extended period inside a closed vehicle in Kfar Chabad.

Emergency responders from Magen David Adom were called to the scene and found the infant suffering from severe heatstroke symptoms. The baby was transported to Shamir Medical Center (Assaf Harofeh) while in serious and unstable condition.

MDA motorcycle unit paramedics Shmuel Gelbstein and Moshe Gelbstein, along with senior medic Yossi Nabul, described the harrowing scene.

“When we arrived, we were led to the infant, who was semi-conscious after spending a prolonged period inside a closed vehicle,” they said. “During our initial medical assessment, we found that the baby was extremely hot to the touch. We provided emergency medical treatment and evacuated him in an MDA intensive care ambulance to the hospital in serious and unstable condition.”

The incident comes amid repeated warnings from safety organizations about the dangers of leaving children unattended in vehicles, especially during the summer months when temperatures inside a car can rise to deadly levels within minutes.

United Hatzalah renewed its call for parents and caregivers to exercise extreme caution and never leave children or infants in vehicles, even for a moment. The organization also urged the public to remain vigilant and check parked vehicles, particularly during hot weather, to ensure no child has been left behind.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.
