HaMashgiach HaGaon HaRav Dan Segal attributes President Donald Trump’s sharp reversal in policy toward Iran to the persecution of bnei yeshivos in Eretz Yisrael.
Speaking at a dinner for Keren Olam HaTorah, HaRav Segal said: “We clearly see that when Torah is supported, there is Siyata Dishmaya, and when it is not, there is none.”
“It changes the rules of the game. The same Trump who until now was so helpful to Israelis is now singing a different tune.”
It should be noted that in February 2025, HaGaon HaRav Moshe Shternbuch warned that “our yeshuah won’t come from Donald Trump.”

I firmly believe that Moshiach will come after the war with Iran (hey if Im wrong it won’t be the first time) and the people that want Moshiach are the Chareidim (and daati) so shouldn’t Hashem listen to the ones that want this war if they’re the ones being persecuted?
Trump changed course because Israel turned into Sodom. The day Trump started changing course was when there was a mishkav zochar parade in yerushalayim. And the day he finished off his deal with Iran was the gay parade in Tel Aviv.
People are unwilling to admit that non-compliance with the Torah has Heavenly consequences. But you hear them read it every Shabbos and those words are no Bluff, they come from the creator himself. Reb emes is correct. But why didn’t the Chareidim at least stop the gay parade in yerushalayim with massive protests. Or is it only when money is at stake when funds are cut from Chareidim. What about the honor of Hashem.

Really? I seriously doubt the President of the United States is at all concerned with the drafting of yeshiva students into Tzahal or anything at all happening in internal Israeli politics. He made the deal because he did not want a prolonged war with boots on the ground and the continued closer of the Strait of Hormuz. Rabbi Berel Wein zt”l once told a anti-semitic passenger on flight, “Everything that happens in the world is for us, not because of us”
Chaim Boruch, it doesn’t matter what Trump is concerned about. He is not his own boss. He doesn’t control his own decisions. Hashem controls him, and Hashem is concerned about the bizayon hatorah.
I happen to believe that service in Tzahal is a mitzvah, and that those who are not suited to sitting literally all day in front of a gemora should go to Tzahal instead. And certainly that anyone who has time to block the streets should be drafted immediately. But the state must officially recognize that genuine full-time limud hatorah is just as important as any military specialty, and should get the same recognition. When the state officially proclaims that מאי אהנו לן רבנן, Hashem is upset and He causes Trump to make decisions that are bad for us.
