Winter Flu Hitting Israel

The first signs of the winter flu are becoming apparent in Israel and hospitals around the country are preparing for an influx of patients in the next week or two.

One must remember the flu is a virus, not bacteria, and as such, one should not [never] take antibiotics or any prescription medications without consulting with one’s physician. Antibiotics will do nothing for a virus.

Usually, by peak season, hospitals reach 150% capacity and even larger numbers, and patients frequently find themselves in hallways and elsewhere.

People in high-risk categories, senior citizens and children, are urged to get vaccinated, health officials urge.
