Syrian Flag Flies in Beirut

The building that will house the Syrian Embassy in Beirut on Friday was already flying the Syrian flag. The move represents full diplomatic ties between Syria and Lebanon.

The move is yet another signal of growing Syrian influence in Lebanon, presenting yet another threat to Israel, with Jerusalem working to limit Damascus’ influence in Lebanon, as well as Syrian’s ongoing support for Hizbullah terrorists based in southern Lebanon.

The move officials report will mark the first time that they have full diplomatic relations since gaining independence from France in 1940.
