Speaking to Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) on Sunday, Likud official Silvan Shalom, who may be Israel’s next foreign minister, explained that while Hamas “is compelled to place Marwan Barghouti on its prisoner release list, the terror organization knows he will not be released”.

Shalom explained that Barghouti is serving five life sentences for his horrific crimes, claiming many innocent lives, stating with confidence Hamas is aware Israel cannot release him and the terrorist organization will not make his release a ‘deal-breaker issue’.
