The cabinet has decided to reduce the budget of municipalities that took in the former residents of Gush Katif and Northern Shomron. In 2009, the municipalities will receive NIS instead of NIS 11 million.

Because most of the expellees live in the south, most of the money will be transferred to the Nachal Sorek, Eshkol, Bnei Shimon, Lachish and the Chof Ashkelon Councils as well as the city of Ashkelon.
