MK (Likud) Reuven Rivlin is most likely to be the next Knesset speaker. Likud has approved his candidacy, which requires a majority vote in Knesset. As Knesset speaker in the last Netanyahu administration he enjoyed widespread approval for his parliamentary expertise and demeanor.

Nevertheless, the veteran lawmaker has already announced that if he is reinstated in the post, one of his first acts will be to cancel the dress code implemented by his predecessor, Dalia Itzik, announcing he is bringing back the jeans.

The dress code did not only apply to lawmakers, but to anyone wishing to visit the Knesset. Rivlin announced he sees no purpose in the restriction, and feels that banning entry to the Knesset to people dressed in jeans does not accomplish anything other than turning away angry citizens.

Rivlin did stress that visitors should exhibit respect for the Knesset and as such, even jeans should be in respectable condition.
