Venezuela�s President Hugo Chavez announced earlier in the week that he is uninterested in restoring diplomatic ties with Jerusalem. Chavez told al-Jazeera the government would only reconsider such a move if Israel�s leaders stopped being a genocidal elite subordinate to the United States.

In January, Chavez announced that he was expelling Israel�s ambassador, cutting all diplomatic ties later that month, announcing due to Israel�s war crimes in Gaza during Operation Cast Lead, his country was expelling the Israeli diplomatic mission and cutting all ties with the Jewish state.
