Refuse experts are searching for a new dump site for Jerusalem and Maale Adumim residents since the Abu Dis site is full to capacity. One of the options suggested was a location in Yehuda or Shomron, but the idea was scrapped due to concerns the international community would express objections. Jerusalem residents and businesses produce about 1,200 tons of garbage daily.
Maale Adumim official Eli Har-Nir is seeking to continue using the Abu Dis facility for an indefinite time period since no one has approved an alternate site.
