Hamas has imposed a 1% tax on Gazan workers� wages to raise funds for religious schools towards increasing Koran studies. The Koran Tax Hamas leaders explain will provide additional funding for Islamic religious studies.

Such a reality can only increase Hamas� support base, which ranks high among Islamic religious extremists and fundamentalists.
