According to the London-based al-Quds al-Arabi, due to the efforts of special Mideast envoy George Mitchell, mediated talks between Israel and Syria are expected to resume �in the coming days�. There is no official Israeli response to the report.

In the past, limited contact took place between Syria and the administration of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert via Turkey, acting as a go-between.
