Federman Cashes in on False Arrest Suit

Chevron area resident and right-wing activist Noam Federman scored a victory in the Jerusalem District Court, with Justice Yehudit Tzur ruling in his favor, ordering police to make compensatory damage to the tune of NIS 8,000 in a false arrest suit.

Federman’s case dates back to March 2006, in which Federman was late in arriving at a hearing in the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court, explaining the delay was caused by security checkpoints. Federman was subsequently arrested twice following the hearing despite the fact the court accepted his explanation, but apparently police failed to cancel an arrest warrant which resulted due to his failure to appear.

He filed suit with the magistrate’s court but it was rejected, prompting him to take his case to the district court, which ruled in his favor.
