Sunday Evening News Briefs from Eretz Yisrael


A woman in her 30s sustained serious injuries in a blaze in the Hatikvah neighborhood of Tel Aviv. She was transported to Tel Hashomer Hospital burn unit.

**A soldier sustained light injuries when a jeep flipped near Chawarah in Shomron on Sunday.

**A vehicle was damaged in rock-throwing attack near Halhoul, north of Chevron, on Sunday afternoon. Baruch Hashem, there are no reports of injuries.

**Rock-throwing reports were received from the eastern Gush Etzion area, near Yishuv Tekoa. No injuries. Damage reported.

**A resident of Israeli Arab Abu Gosh was taken into custody after being apprehended trying to smuggle 70 PA (Palestinian Authority) residents into Green Line Israel, transporting them in a refrigerated truck.

**A 39-year-old woman has died of swine flu in a Tel Aviv Hospital after remaining in critical condition for two weeks. The victim did not have any chronic illness and was not in the “high-risk” category.

**Israel released Hamas parliament member Riyad al-Amla from prison, explaining he completed serving his three-year sentence.

**An Arab detected infiltrating into S. Israel from Gaza was shot and wounded in a hand by IDF soldiers. He was returned to Gaza after being treated.

**A policeman was transported to Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba with light injuries after his patrol vehicle was targeted in a rock-throwing attack.

**At least three firebombs and rocks hurled at border police position near Shuafat on Sunday afternoon. Baruch Hashem, no injuries reported.

**Hundreds of Arabs hurled rocks and bottles at police on Har HaBayis on Sunday morning. At least one policeman was lightly injured. A number of arrests were made, including a senior official with affiliations to Fatah. Violence was also reported in the Wadi Joz area of the eastern capital. The injured officer was transported to Hadassah Mt. Scopus Hospital for treatment.
