MK Ezra: Israel Has No Need to Apologize

MK (Kadima) Gideon Ezra, a retired deputy director of the ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) stated in a radio interview on Tuesday that as far as he is concerned, Israel has nothing to apologize over, stating in uncertain terms that he does not support an internal investigation into the IDF activities during Operation Cast Lead in response to the Goldstone Commission report. ]

Ezra stated the IDF has already probed its actions and other than that, what must be done is to ensure every soldier, officer and decision-maker is protected from lawsuits and legal action, stating the nation has a responsibility to those who serve, in all capacities.

Regarding Gaza and Goldstone, he stated he was among those who supported the Disengagement Plan and Israel has totally left Gaza, stating no one can justify calling Israel an “occupier” in Gaza. Regarding Justice Goldstone, Ezra rejected the accuracy of his findings, focusing on the nation’s responsibility to soldiers and officers, not appeasing the UN commission and its findings.
