Chareidi media sources report that Eida Chareidis Gavaad HaRav Yitzchak Tuvia Weiss is determined to close the doors of Jerusalem Intel on shabbos, taking the battle directly to the United States in an effort to turn up the heat on the hi-tech giant. The Eida appears unwilling to settle for the local protests but in this case, perhaps due to the lost battle against the city’s operation of Karta parking lot, the struggle may include efforts in N. America.

Rav Weiss met with the Undsdorfer (CHECK SPELLING) Rebbe Shlita, telling him of the Eida’s pain over the operation of the Intel facility on shabbos, calling on the Rebbe to use his influence in the United States towards implementing change. He called on him to meet with Intel directors in California.

Rav Weiss also turned to prominent askan R’ Moshe Dovid Niederman of Williamsburg, asking him to also make the trip to California to meet Intel International leaders too, to speak on behalf of the Satmar community in the United States, the Eida Chareidis in Yerushalayim and the chareidi community worldwide.

The Gavaad expressed his concerns regarding the future of shmiras shabbos in Eretz Yisrael, warning if Intel is permitted to keep its doors open on shabbos, it may chas v’sholom get to a point that an employee wishing to earn a livelihood will be compelled to work on shabbos.
