Hamas Awaits Israel’s Response on Shalit Deal

hamas2.jpgThe Arab media continues to release stories pointing to the imminent release of Gilad Shalit while the few official statements released from Jerusalem are far more cautious, perhaps more realistic, explaining at present, a deal has yet to be finalized.

Hamas officials are once again seeking to place the onus on Israel, stating the Israelis must decide if they accept the last round of Hamas conditions, seeking to downplay the magnitude of the terror organization’s demands.

Senior terrorist officials Muhmad Nazel, who is based in Damascus, conducted a telephone interview with the Hamas-affiliated al-Quds network, stating Hamas would be delivering it final response prior to the end of the Feast of the Sacrifice, which end this evening, Monday. “We are awaiting Israel’s response, which we hope will be positive so we can close the deal and make the prisoner exchange” he stated.

He added the German mediator during recent days conducted talks in Egypt with both sides in the hope of closing the deal. the senior terrorist refused to disclose and details of the proposed deal.

Another report, from the Arabic al-Shark al-Awsat newspaper adds the German mediator suggested removing 10 names from Hamas’ list in exchange for the release of Marwan Barghouti and Ahmad Sa’adat, accepting the fact that Hamas states without the two, the deal is a non-starter.

Once again, there are no official statements being released from Jerusalem.

  1. to # 1. when dealing with the “perah adam’ nothing is a done deal until it really happens . a lot of wishful thinkings upon the israelis and tefillos that the reality will occur.don’t be disheartend, just say another kapital of thillim. lets all be mispallel that shalit is released soon and brought back to his family well and healthy.

  2. I wonder what would happen if Israel would just say,THATS IT, take it or leave it. No more names, no more conditions!! I can bet you that the Arabs would grab whatever they could. But like #4 says, its wishful thinking, the Israelis have no backbone. They lost the “yiddishe chochmo and chutzpah” together with everything else yiddish they abandoned.

  3. I think from now on Israel should institute an execution policy for anyone convicted of terrorist activity. They could kill them off by the hundreds (much like China does, unprotested) This will teach them that any terrorist convicted has NO CHANCE for any future prisoner exchange.
