Six Years Later, Another Remedia Formula Death

Just two weeks before her seventh birthday, following difficult and prolonged illness, Inbar Sova z”l was niftar on shabbos in the Re’ut Rehabilitation Hospital in Tel Aviv, becoming another Remedia victim.

Just two months ago, Ofir, her father, brought her to a court proceeding addressing the Remedia infant formula case, seeking to show the court what the formula did to the life of his eldest child, who lives a vegetative lifestyle.

Today, Sunday, the parents, Ofir and Liron buried their eldest child at the Yarkon Cemetery at 12:15pm. Inbar became the fourth Remedia fatality, and there are 22 children who suffer daily as a result of the formula, which was found to be Thiamine deficient.

When the nifteres was a bit older than 7-months, her neurological system began to collapse, learned to be caused by the formula. She was hospitalized in September 2003 in a vegetative state.

Ofir has harsh words for the court, the foot-dragging, now adding that “While the defendants furnish responses to the allegations, my wife and I will be burying our beloved child and then mourning her loss. At this time I would like them to look into those beautiful eyes and now see what we are burying. Her life was more painful for me than her death”.

Ofir also blames the Ministry of Health for permitting Remedia to be imported and sold without conducting tests on laboratory rats, what he explained would certainly have died and the tragedy would have been prevented.

  1. ‘who lives the life of a vegetable’ more appropriate wording.

this is soooooo sad. ok here i go-

you know , sova family, i feel your pain. allot can be spoken both about prevention of tragedies , about making sure those who are responsible for them are brought to justice and last but not least- taking care of the victims.

what about menashe kalifa’s family? its been reported that the government is doing little to help these people through the crisis they are enduring. also, have we heard of a department in the jerusalem municipality that has taken upon itself to search for and remove hazards like the bor the girl he was trying to save?
