A number of weeks ago, YWN-Israel reported that suspected terrorists were taken into custody in the Beersheva Central Bus Station, with officials fearing the large bags they were carrying were bombs. The area was sealed off and the arrests were made, followed by an announcement that the bag did not contain explosives.

Now, about a month later, it is cleared to report two residents of the capital were taken into custody that day, members of what is being called World Hamas, enlisted into the terrorist agency while visiting Jordan. The two were busy gathering information pertaining to potential and future terrorist targets. They were amassing photos, videos, information, maps and descriptions of security arrangements to facilitate perpetrating terror attacks.

The two, Murad Mimer, 24 from Tzur Bachar and Murad Kamal, 24, from Shimon HaTzaddik (Wadi Joz) area of the capital, both possessing Israeli ID cards, had already marked a cave in the Sataf area where they planned to stash their weapons and explosives. They had already amassed intelligence information to carry out attacks, storing video footage on flash drives along with photos and documents to assist in planning and executing attacks. The two were indicted in the Jerusalem District Court on Monday, on charges including membership in a terrorist organization, contacting an enemy agent, and aiding enemy agents. They are alleged to have planned to hand the disk-on-key to their handler.

Information released by Shin Bet officials point to a number of targets studied by the two, including Jerusalem and Beersheva’s central bus stations, Jerusalem’s Malcha Mall, a Tel Aviv beachfront hotel, the area around the IDF’s Tel Hashomer base [where there is a heavy concentration of soldiers] and bus stops in Jerusalem and Mevaseret Tzion.

One must realize, as in the past, these are not low class individuals, when in fact; Nimer was an engineering student in Jordan, enlisted into Hamas in 2007. He reportedly held meetings with Hamas officials in Saudi Arabia as well, once again, a card-carrying Israeli Arab, an intellectual, willing to put it all at risk to advance the anti-Israel cause. It was Nimer who enlisted Kamal, also a student in Jordan, studying pharmacology. Nimer relocated to Dubai, regularly meeting with Hamas contacts there and in Turkey while working as an engineer.

They returned to Israel last year and began gathering information to hand over to their handler, the disk-on-key-containing the photos and videos that would permit the careful planning of murderous attacks R”L. They were zealous in carrying out their mission, providing detailed maps and photographs as well; seeking to make sure the terrorists would succeed in their mission, to kill as many innocent Jews in Israel as possible. Nothing was left to speculation, documenting security arrangements at the selected target locations and recording the concentration of Jews and IDF soldiers at the various locations.

As has been the case in dozens of past cases, the terrorists were able to travel freely, flashing their Israeli identity cards, thereby entering all locations without difficulty.

It should be explained that when YWN-Israel reports almost daily of the number of arrests in “counter-terrorism operations” carried our during the nights throughout Yehuda and Shomron, at times in the Jordan Valley area, in many cases, the interrogations of the suspects leads the Shin Bet to terrorists such as the two Jerusalemites in the above report.
