Did Sifrei Torah & Seforim Go Up in Flames in Bnei Brak?

A fire that erupted in a storage facility on Ezra Street in Bnei Brak resulted in three Sifrei Torah and seforim to go up in flames. The Sifrei Torah were old and posul, hence they were being stored in the facility, Kikar and Chadrei Chareidim reported on Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters were summoned to the blaze on Ezra Street at about 3:00pm Sunday (Jan. 31), a facility belonging to Nadvorna Chassidim. The storage facility is located under the beis medrash of the chassidus.

It was first believed the storage facility contained disposable paper goods but it was soon realized that unfortunately, this was not the case and the real damage was realized, the destruction of the Sifrei Torah and sifrei kodesh.

The decision-makers in the chassidus are expected to announce if a major levaya will be held for the Sifrei Torah, and if so, it is likely the event will take place next week.

Katzar however presented a contradictory report, close to midnight, stating that in the end, it was learned that there was only one Sefer Torah in the storage facility and miraculously, it escaped the blaze.

YWN-Israel will provide an update if and when it can be established if Sifrei Torah were destroyed in the blaze.
