Minister Braverman – A Coalition Change is Required

Minister of Minority Affairs (Labor) Dr. Avishai Braverman told Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) host Razi Barkai that he fears the continued breakdown in relations between Israel and the United States, stating that “immediately following Pesach”, the faction will convene and the Labor Party’s future in the current government coalition will be reevaluated. Braverman stated that Kadima must be brought into the coalition, further stating “I do not wish to detail at present but coalition changes are necessary”, indicating if Kadima does not enter the coalition, Labor may threaten to break away, or he and supporters may come out against party leader Defense Minister Ehud Barak.

Braverman reminded listeners that he has always been a strong supporter of the two-state solution and increased rights for Israel’s Arab citizens, stating something must be done in both areas, but more importantly, the current administration’s policies vis-à-vis the White House must change to avoid a crisis with Jerusalem’s strongest ally.
