Additional security is being provided for Deputy IDF Chief of Staff Benny Gantz, IDF officials confirm. Security agents from the General Staff�s protection unit have been assigned to the deputy chief, but officials add this is not due to any concrete specific threat, but in response to a periodic situation assessment, explaining since the elimination of deputy Hizbullah commander Imad Mughniyeh, precautions have been stepped up for a number of senior IDF commanders.

No explanation is given why the additional security precautions were implemented now, over a year since the terrorist commander was killed.
