Kahanists Planning to Burn Obama Photos on Lag B’Omer

Persons affiliated with the outlawed Kach organization have printed photos of US President Barak Obama receiving an award from a Muslim organization, photos being distributed to add into Lag B’Omer bonfires. The caption of the photo accuses the president of being a PLO agent.

Kach activist and Chevron resident Noam Federman states it is simple; “Obama is an anti-Semite”.

Speaking to Walla news, Federman explained he believes the president’s photo will be burned in hundreds of fires around the country since the nation’s youth understand just what a threat the president poses to Israel, justifying his actions as freedom of expression in a democratic society.

  1. When Yaakov went to meet Eisav he sent gifts and made all the proper diplomatic gestures. Whatever Obama’s beliefs are and despite how he may be treating Israel, we need not antagonize him. I don’t see the seichel in this display. Do they really think Obama will change? Seems more like they are just trying to satisfy their desire for rage. Let them learn from the Gedolim. No Gadol is going on a rampage burning Obama photos. There is no chochma in this.
By them burning Obama’s photo they will create additional unnecessary tensions.

  2. the two have nothing to do with one another

while i believe that Rav Kahana IS right
i have nothing to do with his “movement”
i too would not mind burning his picture

of course Lag B Omer is not the time or place to burn pictures (even burning clothes on Log B Omer is frowned upon by the Rabbis for Bal Taschis)

  3. Nothing positive or productive comes from destruction and burning things!

Besides, I’m not 100% convinced Obama “hates” Jews. I think it is more likely that he is a foolish idealist who is brimming with arrogance and self importance who thinks he will be the one to bring “peace” to the Middle East just like he passed Obama care. He is self obsessed and has a vision and will try everything in his power to see that visions fruition. He’s a blind fool and an idiot who ignores history. His ideas are warped and childish. However I will abstain from considering him an anti Semite or Israel hater just yet. We allow ourselves to get too heated up and we call everyone who does something we don’t like an anti semite. Doing so is wrong and tantamount to crying wolf. Let’s not do that because its counter productive and we want to be heard when a true issue of anti semitism is at hand.

  4. Several things were accomplished by this demonstration by Kach.

#1 I do not believe I am the only one who thought the group was defunct and no longer existing let alone active.

This could attract more people to the conservative side who otherwise thought, they had no group to join.

#2 It helps spread the message that Obama is an antisemite.
If he were simply ‘misguided’ he would not have hidden his Islamic middle name during the campaign and then rammed it down our throats as he did at the innaguration as if to say
“Ha ha I fooled you, now I get to show my true loyalties”.

And that is one tiny example out of many (like his love and support for antisemite ‘Reverend’ Wright) and he has never done anything even slightly to show any concern for Jews or Jewish issues.

#3 It shows that not only leftists can protest and make demonstartions, which always seem to work for them.

And it shows the government that the leftists cannot continue to just roll over everyone else as they have been doing, for many decades.

  5. hereorthere, that’s an excellent point about the president’s name. During his campaign, nobody knew that the president had the middle name “Hussein”, so none of his opponents were able to enlighten the voting public about this essential fact.
