Noam Shalit Critical of Decision to Relax Gaza Embargo

Members of the Shalit family have expressed harsh criticism against Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu regarding the Security Cabinet decision to relax restrictions surrounding the Gaza embargo and to permit many many more items into Hamas-controlled Gaza.

During a meeting of the Knesset Foreign Affairs & Defense Committee, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu explained the decision to committee members, adding that Israel has already agreed to release 450 terrorists in a first wave of a deal to bring Gilad Shalit home, and an additional 550 prisoners in a second wave, yet Hamas hasn’t responded to the German mediator seeking to broker a deal between Israel and Hamas.

The Shalits however question the actions of the current administration, pointing out as we approach Gilad’s fourth anniversary in captivity it is simply unacceptable that Israel cannot arrange the release of a soldier being held a number of miles away. In a statement to the media, Mr. Noam Shalit also questioned “where is Gilad in the formula”, referring to Israel’s announcement to relax embargo restrictions.
