Syrian President Bashar Assad expressed hope that “true developments would lead to the renewal of the peace process with Israel,” but noted that “Israel’s policy does not herald such developments.”
Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported on Monday that Assad met with French special envoy to the Middle East Jean-Claude Cousseran and told him, “Syria is continuously acting to achieve a just and inclusive peace.” The Syrian president added that Turkey will play an important role in future negotiations.
