Israeli textbook acknowledges Arab suffering

arab suffering.jpgThe Israeli Education Ministry has approved a textbook for use in the state’s Arab schools that for the first time describes Israel’s 1948 war of independence as a “catastrophe” for the Arab population.

The action, which responds to longstanding concerns of the country’s Arab population, immediately prompted criticism from right-wing Jewish politicians and calls for the Education Minister’s dismissal.

The Arabic version of a new book for a year 3 course on homeland, society and citizenship states that “some of the Palestinians fled and some were expelled after the war of independence” and that “many Arab-owned lands were confiscated”, an Education Ministry official, Dalia Fenig, said on Sunday. It refers to the establishment of Israel as a catastrophe for the Palestinians.

  1. We must be strong in our belief (The Land and the Temple Mount belong to us) no matter how incredible is the stupidity and self-hatred exhibited by the Israeli leftists. I think this is more of the “I feel closer to the Arabs than to the Dati’im” attitude that I saw quoted in the media a while back. The leftists look at the demographics and see a future dominated by religous Jews and Arabs, are deciding to go with the Arabs.
They call it “nakbah” we call it “Churban”.
    Weep for the Jewish people.

  2. my parents have told me how 2 Arabs were fighting in the streets of Tel Aviv because each one said they had first claim on a particular building after the Jews would be killed!

There was a news article not that long ago that said the Arabs in Gaza prefer life in jail as there is wat to do plus no economic hardship.
