Israeli Mahmoud Salameh Released from Jordan, Returns Home

An Israeli citizen who had been imprisoned in Jordan for the past three months has been returned to Israel, the Prime Minister’s Office announced.

The Israeli, identified as Mahmoud Salameh, was greeted upon his arrival by Gal Hirsch, the government’s pointman on hostage affairs. His release came following intensive discussions between the Shin Bet, Foreign Ministry, Israel Police, and their Jordanian counterparts.

While the reasons for his arrest were not disclosed, the Prime Minister’s Office stated that the matter remains under review.
