Jared Kushner and special envoy Steve Witkoff described the tense hours before the ceasefire and hostage deal, when an unexpected Israeli strike nearly derailed the talks. Kushner said President Trump believed Israel was “getting a little bit out of control” and felt it was time to firmly step in to prevent actions that were not in the country’s long-term interests.
