US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee met in July with Jonathan Pollard, the former US Navy analyst convicted of spying for Israel.

According to the New York Times, the meeting was not coordinated with US officials, including the White House and the CIA station chief in Israel.
Officials were reportedly “alarmed” when they learned about it afterward.

Pollard described the meeting as friendly and said he thanked Huckabee for his past efforts to secure his release, but he declined to share further details.
