A 12-ton Holocaust-era railcar was crane-lifted into the center of the future Holocaust Museum Boston, where it will serve as a key element of the museum’s core exhibition.

The railcar is one of the most recognizable symbols of the Holocaust, representing the millions of jews who were murdered in the Holocaust.

The museum, still under construction and overlooking Boston Common, is being developed with the boxcar as a central part of its design and mission.
