Israel’s new Military Advocate General, Maj. Gen. Itai Ofir, has decided to close the criminal case against Col. (res.) Yoav Yarom over his role in a November 2024 incident in southern Lebanon that led to the deaths of IDF Sgt. Gur Kehati and civilian researcher Ze’ev Erlich.
IDF prosecutors had previously announced they intended to seek an indictment for reckless homicide, but Ofir ruled that Yarom will not face criminal charges, recommending the matter be handled through military disciplinary proceedings.
