Zohran Mamdani has tapped Lillian Bonsignore, a longtime FDNY veteran and former EMS chief, to serve as the next FDNY commissioner.

Bonsignore, who retired in 2022 after 31 years, would become only the second woman to lead the FDNY.

She replaces Robert Tucker, who resigned one day after Mamdani defeated former Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the mayoral race.
