Mount Etna Erupts Again, Lava Fountains Reach 1,000 Feet

Italy�s Mount Etna entered a new eruptive phase on December 26, Italy�s National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) confirmed. Lava fountains rose more than 1,000 feet into the air, with rock fragments thrown several kilometers above the volcano�s summit, the institute said.
Authorities have issued a yellow alert, and officials are monitoring any possible impact on nearby Fontanarossa Airport in Catania.
