Suspect Arrested After Arson Fire Damages Mississippi’s Largest Synagogue

A suspect has been arrested after a fire severely damaged Beth Israel Congregation in Jackson, Mississippi, early Saturday. The synagogue, which is Reform and the largest Jewish congregation in the state, sustained significant damage in the blaze.

Authorities said the fire has been ruled an act of arson. No injuries were reported, but portions of the synagogue were damaged, along with several Torah scrolls.
