Robert Mueller, former FBI director and special counsel, has died at the age of 81, his family announced.

Mueller led the FBI in the years following the September 11 attacks and later oversaw the investigation into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Trump responded to the death of Robert Mueller, saying:

“Robert Mueller just died. Good, I’m glad he’s dead. He can no longer hurt innocent people!”
