Convenience store giant 7-Eleven is preparing to shut down hundreds of locations across North America as part of a broader restructuring strategy, according to recent corporate filings. The company’s operator expects store closures to significantly outpace new openings in the coming fiscal year.
Financial documents show that 7-Eleven plans to close 645 stores in fiscal year 2026, while opening only 205 new locations during the same period. Many of the closures are tied to a shift toward converting traditional stores into wholesale fuel outlets, a format the company has been expanding in recent years.
