DOJ Warns Reporters May Face Subpoenas in National Security Leak Investigations

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche warned Tuesday that reporters “should not be surprised” if they receive subpoenas over stories involving national security matters, following reports that The Wall Street Journal received subpoenas tied to its coverage of the Iran war.

Blanche said prosecuting leaks of classified information is a priority for the administration, adding that “any witness, whether a reporter or otherwise,” with information related to the leaks could receive a subpoena.
