Former Mayor Ed Koch headed home Saturday after a week-long stay at the hospital. The 88-year-old former mayor was admitted to New York Presbyterian Hospital last Saturday with fluid in his lungs and swollen ankles.
He was originally set to be released Monday, but his doctors sent him home early.
“I’m delighted to go home,” Koch said. “There’s nothing like home. I mean, this is a second home, but there’s nothing like home. And I’m going to do everything that Joe has told me to do, and I expect that I’ll be in the office at the beginning of the week. Probably going home a little earlier than usual.”

No.1: The editor of this article might know, if he had the original text of the report, which may have revealed who “Joe” was and whether Mr. K went home or went to the home of a friend to help him while Mr. K recovers.
