Damaged Brooklyn Rink Back On Ice

Kids are back on the ice at a Coney Island skating rink, after Hurricane Sandy left the building with more than $30,000 in damage.
The storm surge filled Abe Stark Arena with at least five feet of salt water and mud, and the engine room was filled to the ceiling with sand.

The arena is the home rink of the Greater New York City Ice Hockey League, which is back in play thanks to the generators supplying power.

On Monday, NHL legend Wayne Gretzky served as a team captain for a youth pick-up game.

TD Bank also came by with a surprise, announcing it is donating $10,000 to help the arena replace all of its expensive equipment.

That includes Zambonis, the skate sharpening machine and all of rink’s skating gear.
