MTA Expanding Subway Cell Service This Week

Cell-Phone-ReceptionCell phone service is coming to 30 more Manhattan subway stations this week.

The new stations are mostly on Manhattan’s west side between 42nd and 96th streets and include hubs like Times Square.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority first launched subway cell phone service in September 2011 at six stations between 14th and 23rd streets.

Service is only meant to extend onto platforms, so riders cannot carry conversations onto trains.
