NYC Rain & Embedded Thunderstorms Forecast to Continue Through Tonight


rainRain continues to overspread the New York City area. Rain and embedded thunderstorms are located in northern Virginia and Maryland and are tracking northeast towards the NYC area. While the threat of flooding has diminished, it has not completely abated yet and moderate-to-heavy rain fall is still possible through the evening hours. Rain is expected to become more scattered after midnight and taper off by daybreak.

Precipitation and Timing
Rain will continue to fall in NYC through tomorrow morning with the best chance for moderate-to-heavy rain from this afternoon through the evening hours. While embedded thunderstorms are possible, severe weather and organized convection is not forecast.

Due to recent heavy rainfall, flooding is possible on already saturated ground, especially in low-lying area and poor drainage areas.
