Williamsburg tenants scrambled for safety after an early morning three-alarm fire ripped through their apartment building.

Fire officials say it started at around 4:30 a.m. between the ceiling and roof of the six-story building at 188 South 3rd St., which has about 40 units.

Dozens of residents and their pets were able to evacuate, and no injuries were reported. The FDNY says one firefighter had to be taken out of the building on a gurney after likely suffering heat exhaustion.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation, but tenants believe it’s related to electrical problems they’ve been having.
