A Red-Letter Day at Shuvu Bat Yam – HaRav Kolodetsky, Son-In-Law of HaGaon Harav Chaim Kanievsky, Visits


The air was festive yet electric as students at Shuvu Bat Yam awaited their distinguished guest. HaGaon HaRav Yitzchak Kolodetsky Shlita, son-in-law of HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita, would soon be arriving and the anticipation was palpable.

As the car pulled up the students and staff erupted in enthusiastic song. As the distinguished rav emerged and made his way into the building, rows upon rows of smiling students excitedly waved flags and sang.

Rav Kolodetsky began by warmly addressing the entire school, delivering Divrei Bracha. He then made his way to several classrooms where he took the opportunity to meet the students more personally and to speak to the various grade at their own level. He spoke to the third grade about the importance of reciting 100 blessings every day, and illustrated each of the Birchot HaShachar with a lesson and a story. Rav Kolodetsky then addressed the fifth and sixth grades, who gathered together in one classroom, where he sat down to speak and converse with them in a long and fascinating conversation, sprinkled with captivating stories.

After visiting with the students, the Rav met with the school’s administration and staff in the teachers’ room. He stressed to them the great merit and the rare opportunity that each of them has been given, inspiring them with chizuk and inspiration as they continue their lofty mission.
