US Government to restore Ukrainian Shul


JTA: A historic synagogue in Ukraine will be restored with help from the U.S. government. Upon completion of the restoration works, funded with money from the U.S. Commission for the Preservation of America�s Heritage Abroad, the medieval synagogue in Zholkva will house a center for Jewish culture.The restoration project also includes the opening of a memorial Jewish cemetery in this town, once a thriving Jewish center of the region formerly known as Galicia.

The commission is a government agency involved in identifying and protecting cultural properties throughout Europe that are of relevance to American heritage.
