Shoe-Throwing Incident Brings a Flood of Orders for Manufacturer

bushoe11.jpgIt appears the style shoe that was thrown at US President George W. Bush at a Baghdad press conference by Iraqi journalist Muntazer al-Zaidi has placed the shoe in the annals of history.

According to the Turkish shoe manufacturer, since the incident, he has made 15,000 pairs of that particular model and he is unable to keep up with demand.

According to a report in the British Guardian, Ramzan Baadan already received 300,000 orders from around the world, model 271, which is now referred to as the “Bush shoe”.  He has hired an additional 100 workers to meet orders.

Other Iraqi shoe manufacturers are working to get in on the deal but Baadan stated that he is the exclusive manufacturer of this model, one which he has been putting out for the past 10 years.

In the meantime, advertising in Turkey continues under the banner “Shalom Bush – Welcome Democracy”.

In a related matter, al-Zaidi is scheduled to stand trial on 31 December and if found guilty of all charges, may face 15 years imprisonment.

  1. Well’ think of it like this: If an American would crash into Ahmadinejad’s car with a Caddilac
don’t you think that would boost sales?

  2. An ironic lesson for Bush while he prances about claiming to want to make the world a better place with free markets as everything falls apart at home for the people he was elected to serve.
