Monsey Glatt robbers get indicted

Four men have been indicted by a Rockland County grand jury on charges of first-degree robbery for allegedly holding up Monsey Glatt.

Alberto Lucas, 21, Francisco Feria, 16, Junior Marseille, 21, and 23-year-old Edward Ceus were charged with two counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree robbery and burglary in the second degree.

On November 23, 2006, at 11 p.m., Lucas, Feria and Marseille drove to the Monsey Glatt store where Lucas worked and Feria previously worked. They had previously devised a plan to rob the store, which is a kosher supermarket. Ceus was also a former employee there and although not present at the time of the robbery, he had actively participated in the planning of the robbery and agreed to split the proceeds.

Lucas, Feria and Marseille were dressed in black, with gloves and ski masks.

They brought an imitation pistol, duct tape and a knapsack with them.

After the store closed, they broke in through a rear door. They pulled the gun on the clerk and demanded money. The victim was struck repeatedly on the face with the pistol and picked up and dragged out of the office into the adjoining part of the store.

The suspects stole cash from an office safe and fled through the front door.

The victim had several broken bones in his face. His orbital bones
and sinus cavity were fractured. He also sustained multiple lacerations around his right eye and cheek, which required internal and external stitches.

The robbers stole $25,000 in cash.

  1. I can’t prove what I am going to say (But, I will say it anyway). a person living in the states of CT or PA (or NC) does not commute dailly to work as baggers in Monsey Glatt or other Stores in the greater Monsey area. When I go there in the morning and I see cars pulling up and dropping off workers and the cars have plates from these States, the phrase “ILLEGAL ALIEN” comes to mind. I do not think it is racist to be against illegal aliens – if it is, so be it – call me a racist too.

one nameless storeowner (not the nameless that posts here) told me that he hires them b/c they are cheap and generally reliable.

I would rather pay more at the checkout and not have people here illegally working in the stores.

I do not know if these thugs were here legally or not – I am glad that they were caught and B’Ezrat HaShem the injured should have a refuah shlaimah (spelling???).

  2. look, it’s not mexicans — it’s low people. You can see it in their faces — there ARE some repulsive Mexicans who work in our stores (and Monsey Glatt DID have some obvious bums working there, as does Rockland Kosher right now) — and then there are some fine, poor Mexicans who just need a job and respond with appreciation to being treated with dignity. There is no place for racism in the Torah world — we are supposed to be an ohr lagolah, not a bunch of sneering, superior racists!

And I do agree that those disgusting-faced, negative or too-personal employees should not be working among us. Pay a few dollars more and get normal humans, Yidden!!
