Greenblatt is supposed to be the President’s special negotiator for the Middle East peace process. There is a real issue of appearances that he and Jared Kushner, who also was named as someone who would work on the peace process, are clearly biased in favor of EY. Having him meet with a chushuve Rav from EY and seek a bracha may undercut his “neutral” role. There is no reason why he should so publicize these kinds of meetings, assuming it was necessary. Hopefully, he will have some success in getting the Palestinians back to the negotiating table but first they have to recognize the legitimacy of EY as a Jewish state.
