I thought the ‘Shabbos Angels’ song, as well as the video, displays a lot of talent and no doubt it’ll be welcomed by it listeners / viewers. There is one disturbing aspect about this song that left me wondering. As Jews we believe that Torah is the central focus of our religion and our lives. Shabbos is the apex of the week that we observe both physically and spiritually. The physical takes shape with family time, delicious meals, Shabbos guests, etc. The spiritual takes shape by sharing Torah thoughts and increased Torah learning, etc.
Although this song beautifully describes the physical pleasures of the day, it completely fails to mention the equal, if not more important, spiritual aspect of Torah learning. Woe is to the generation that celebrates Shabbos without instilling the beauty of Torah learning – that is a big deal! Any ‘Shabbos Project’ that fails in this regard is denying their family, friends and guests the complete beauty of what Shabbos was meant to offer.
I loved this. Really nice beat and enjoyable music.
