At around 2:00AM, a fire broke out in the Beit Shemesh area, near the towns of Beit Meir and Shoresh. Residents of Beit Meir were evacuated from their homes. Beit Meir is located in the Jerusalem hills around nine miles from Jerusalem, just off the Jerusalem-Tel Aviv highway.
