Obama Ending Year On Low: 56 Percent Disapprove

obaco.jpgForty-six percent of the nation’s voters strongly disapprove of the way President Obama is doing his job compared to just 25 percent who strongly approve, giving the president the lowest approval index rating during his time in the White House, according to the Rasmussen daily tracking poll for Tuesday.

Rasmussen’s presidential approval index is calculated by subtracting the number who strongly disapprove of the president from the number who strongly approve so Obama’s now stands at minus 21.

Obama’s disapproval rating had never topped 42 percent before this week, yet Rasmussen’s tracking shows it has risen dramatically since the Senate voted early Monday to push the mammoth health care legislation forward. Rasmussen shows a 55 percent majority of voters oppose that legislation.

A new Quinnipiac poll released Tuesday also shows American voters “mostly disapprove” of the health care plan 53 – 36 percent. They disapprove of the president’s handling of the health care issue 56 – 38 percent.

Quinnipiac also shows voters oppose 72 – 23 percent using any taxpayer money to pay for abortions as part of the health care overhaul.

Overall, Rasmussen found 44 percent of voters said they at least somewhat approve of the President’s performance, while 56 percent disapprove.

Seventy-seven percent of Democrats approve while 88 percent of Republicans and 62 percent of unaffiliated or independent voters disapprove.

  1. Lets face it – Hes in way over his head. Hes trying to make everyone happy and in the meantime nobody is happy. The GOP needs to rally behind any decent candidate in 2012 and he will be in the history books. Also – once 2010 comes in – if the gop wins back the Hous and / or senate – he will have much much less power

  2. I want to know who the 44% of the survey do approve of the job that Obama is doing? Do they need their heads examined or what?

  3. I want to know of the people that are “happy,” are they happy because they are black and so is he so they cant be honest about their feelings? Are they guilt ridden white men who are so caught up in the fact that there is a black president that they cant bring themselves to admit they have the wrong black man in office??

  4. #2, Well, the new regulations starting soon where credit card companies cannot rob those with financial problems seems to be a good thing. The rest is out of control and Obama wont fix the Bush/Cheney mess.

#8, Obama is not the most overly cultural black, In fact, I am sure in his younger years he would not have fared well in the hood at all. Having said that he is about as white as a black man can be, when people elect a black president like George Bush, then progress has been made. Frankly, the white, wasp attitude on the world has run its course and failed.

  5. No MoshiachNow01, Obama will not fix the Bush/Cheney mess as you state. The only mess that I am aware of is the expansion of the federal bureaucracy and the addition of new entitlements such as the SCHIP program.

  6. MoshiachNow01, Bush & Cheney did not take any loot back home with them. What is this hostility towards Bush and Cheney? For your information, Cheney was one of the most reliable friends that Israel ever had. Bush kept us safe after 9/11. What else do you want from Bush other than he wasn’t a true conservative?

  7. Flatbush Bubby,he still has some supporters. That w 44% is made up of those preschoolers who sing “mmm mmm mmm Barak Hussien Obama” and one preschool teacher!

  8. #9 – of course he won’t fix it, he just promised he could 😛

Pretty much the same as he can’t fix anything else he promised…

  9. This is only the beginning. By the end of his 2nd year his #’s will be in the low 20’s and by the time his term is over even he, the most audacious person on the planet. won’t have the audacity to run again.
